A new day

Marta starts the day shift today. It felt like a long time coming, but it is finally here!

Adam Souza, Plankeye & the open road

We made it to Portland! It was almost 24 hours of traveling by bus, train & automobile (plane is scheduled for return trip, so we will be covering most forms of transportation).

Trip started out with Marta finding out she would be able to join us and there was some last minute packing. While we are waiting with our friends who offered to drop us off at union station they start telling us about the recent murder/decapitation that took place on a bus in CA. Keep in mind that this is my first time ever traveling with Amtrak. To make matters more awesome, Marta and I are the last two to get on the bus and we are honored with the seats between the only baby on the bus and the bus’ only toilet. GENIUS!
So bus trip is miserable and long. We get to Bakersfield where we switch over to a train. Great story about 300 pound dude stubbing his toe, wish I had a picture for that one. Train was awesome and got some sleep…finally!
Adam picked us up at 6:49 (5 minutes late) and the road trip began (after we stopped for breakfast). Other stops included starbucks cigarette break, Sierra Nevada brewery in Chico, and Mexican food in Eugene, OR where we all totally scored and got three blue ninjas from the quarter machine…one for each of us!
Unfortunately my iPhone battery was dead for the most of this trip since I forgot to turn off my 3G. I wanted to test out my new wordpress app though so here are a few pictures and here goes nothing!

The show at the Hibbleton is now over, but there is another one opening this Friday so be sure to check it out! The show really was a success and it was a ton of fun. I sold most of my pieces too. Here are some that didn’t sell, so if anyone is interested let me know!

H.R Pufnstuf

i really need to figure out why i can’t embed videos on my blog. it’s really starting to bug.

however, i’m looking for H.R Pufnstuf on DVD if anybody has any recommendations.

nice things from OC Weekly

I went to the Hibbleton again tonight to see my friend Jessica play a show. She is a great-great musician and she gave me a plug during her show so I’m only doing this to return the favor. no really, she is extremely talented and you should check out her music: www.myspace.com/deepseadivermusic

Also, she is going to be traveling in Beck’s band for the next few months playing guitar and backup vocals. Check out this video from a secret show they played last week at the Echo. (for some reason this post isn’t letting me embed a video so click on the link to view it.)

Also, while I was hanging out, the guys at the Hibbleton let me know that OC Weekly had written up a review of the show. Although, I wouldn’t say my work is Anime/Manga-inspired (the Japanese influence would be more Nintendo/Super Mario Bros./Kirby/Bubble Bobble-esque) like they wrote, I really appreciate the nice-nice things they had to say about my work. Now, I just might have to go with their recommendation and change my name to “Totallyfreakyinnerworldland”.

It is so hot! i don’t do well with heat so most of today’s events involved trying to stay cool. I would have been happy setting up at the movie theatre all day hopping from one film to another, but we had to get things done too. So, first…

We washed cars: cold water!
Then we drove to Target: air conditioning!
And we bought a fan: much needed breeze in our toasty little apartment!
Also, luckily, I had donated a pint of blood the previous day which in turn I was given a coupon for a pint of ice cream from Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors, so we cashed in on that: pint for pint is genius!
And lastly, I’ve been listening to all the best 90’s hits by Third Eye Blind, Everclear, Eve 6, The Verve Pipe, Marcy Playground, Vertical Horizon, Matchbox 20, Deep Blue Something: 90’s = supercool!

So much for the afterglow.
